Default 2005 Xterra O/D light on, won't go forward.

Strangest thing. My battery died so I charged it up but when I started it my O/D light was on, it won't go off. But even worse is it will just barely move forward. My driveway is up hill to go out and once I go about 20 feet it stops. It feels like the brakes are being applied and won't release. I bought it new, only has 65000 miles and sometimes it sits for weeks and the battery drains. So I always keep it connected to a trickle charger but the last time I drove it I forgot to plug it in. So anyways, I have never had a problem and it runs like new yet. Back to the problem, when it stops moving the engine is running fine and about 2000 RPM. I take my foot of the gas and it will not roll backwards. Once I put my foot on the brake and put it in neutral or reverse it will roll backwards. No problem with going backwards. If I go ahead on level ground or down a slope on my driveway it will move but not easily. As soon as I turn to go up hill though it just locks up. I think if I had a enough distance on flat ground it would probably lock up once I got up to about 2000 RPM. I did have one problem but I'm sure it has nothing to do with this. My engine light is on, codes are P1169 and P1051 which indicates the upstream sensor, bank 2. I'm in the process of replacing it tomorrow. I took the ABS fuse out for the brakes and tried driving it but it still locks up. I've read a ton of stuff in the service manual and it sounds like fail safe or limp mode. When the battery died, the motor cranked over a few times at first. After that my headlights came on and it sounded like there was a relay clicking on and off. It was doing that for a couple minutes during the time it took me to get my charger and connect it. So I'm thinking relay to the ECM and maybe something even damaged the ECM. I have an OBDII connected with software on my computer called OBD 2007 but the only things showing up on there are the 2 codes I mentioned earlier and there is one test that failed but there was no description. It had a TID of something like 0x5a I have no idea what it meant. There is one other thing which also makes me think the ECM and/or the relay. There is a recall that I have never had taken care of and it has to do with the relay before the ECM being replaced. It says if that relay goes bad it can cause Fail Safe mode with a limit of 2000 RPM's and ECM deactivates ASCD operation. OK, well that's probably more than enough info. Anyone ever had this or know what it is? Beginning to think it will have to go to Nissan but it will have to be hauled if it does.

Well I have to say that is probably the easiest oxygen sensor replacement I have ever done. Pulled the front left wheel and the sensor was accessible. I took my pneumatic cut off tool and cut the top to the sensor off. A 7/8" deep socket fit and out it came. Putting the new one back was just as easy. I replaced the leaking brake line and bled the lines. The P1168 and P1151 Codes went away but a new one appeared P1165 indicating a problem with the ECM. Just as I suspected so tomorrow I'll diagnose that problem.

I would start with taking care of the recall. Also check your engine coolant and transmission fluid to make sure they haven't mixed together. Transmission cooler failures were pretty common in the Xterra.
