Default Oil and Filter - 2003 Frontier

Just bought a 2003 Frontier, V6, 3.3 L with 145K miles. Recommendations on oil brand and filter would be appreciated.

I like the OEM factory filter or "Full" filter, it looks and feels just like the OEM. I like to use Mobil oil, 5W-30 or 10W-30, depends on time of the year.

That's a loaded question! Everybody has their own brand preferences and recommendations. If you want to get down to the basics, any API-certified 5W30 engine oil and reputable brand oil filter will do just fine. Personally, I'm partial to the genuine Nissan oil filters, as well, but, when I've run out of those, I go with Purolator Pure One filters. I'll also replace the drain plug gasket, Nissan P/N 11026-01M02, which I buy in bulk from Ebay. For oil, I've been using Walmart's Supertech Full-synthetic 5W30 (sells for $18 for a 5-quart jug) for the last decade in all my vehicles (currently two R51 Pathfinders and a 2003 Frontier SVE). I replace the oil and filter at 7,500 mile intervals. About a year ago, I sampled the oil on my 2006 Pathfinder which had 150,000 miles on the truck and 7,500 miles on the oil and sent it to Blackstone Labs for the analysis. They sent back the results and recommended extending the intervals to 9,500 miles. I still keep the 7,500 mile intervals, but, I'm glad to know I still got a little extra margin in case I go a little over. Here were the results:
