ECM recall
I have 2005 xterra I brought to dealer for recall on ECM relay 2 days later check engine light came on brought it back they said I needed 2 new cats costing 3800 dollars I told them there's no way 2 cats can go bad at the same time! This happened exactly one year ago I still drive with the light and truck runs fine! I recently purchase a code scanner and code is p1273 can anybody help me figure out how to turn this light off ? Should I change the air mass sensor or should replace the cats Thanks

Sometimes the cat code come up momentarily if the fuel is contaminated or some settings of the Engine Control Module (ECM) are change (the dealer may have done this during the recall). If the cat codes are not coming up now you should just forget about it.
The P1273 is for Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1 Lean Shift Monitoring Bank 1, but doesn't necessary means that the Mass Air Flow (MAF) is bad, you could have bad Air/Fuel ratio sensor. You could try performing Clear Mixture Ratio Self-Learning Control Data procedure and clear the codes.
