01 Xterra Coding P0115 and P1217 Won't rev over 2000 RPM
Hi All, if someone can shed some light on this for me I'd be eternally grateful.
My Xterra has had issues with an erratic temp gauge before and once it even shut down while I was on a mountain pass, assumably due to high temperature readings. The truck never did seem to be overheating though. The temp. issues were very intermittent and after replacing the ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (ECTS), replacing the thermostat, and topping up the coolant everything seemed ok. The erratic gauge was gone (even though as I understand, it the ECTS does not send to the gauge itself, only to the ECS). Now suddenly the truck is coding P0115 and P1217 and won't rev above 2000 rpm. If I pull over, turn the truck off and then start it again the truck then drives fine for another half hour or so... then repeats. Could the replacement ECTS have been bad? The vehicle does not seem to be overheating but the ECU apparently thinks it is? Any other thoughts? Ideas? |

'Seems' is not a good word - it means nothing to the computer.
Do the diagnostic procedure for the codes. One code's diagnostic procedure might say to defer to another diagnostic procedure, if another code is lit up. Diags procedures are in the manuals on the home page here...
