Default ECM error code and Flashing memory

I had a look through the list of error codes in the Xtrail service manual but I do not see anything that says the ECM has an issue. Or is this a matter of checking everything else first then suspecting the ECM as the last resort?
And what is flashing memory that I have seen scattered through various threads? Is this just a Nissan dealer reprogramming of the ECM or is this a realignment of the program to work properly. Or can the backyard mechanic do this?

Nissan do not flash and ECM the software reprograms the ECM. and yes you have to bring it to the dealer. What problem are you experiencing?

Default Problem

To answer your question. I disconnected the battery a few times and once or twice not thinking I disconnected the + positive lead first. As I was working on some radio wiring. What happened a bit after this is the car will start and idle then the ABS light comes on with noise from the back of the car like a phone vibrator. But at this point I have no accelerator pedal. If I wait for a few minutes for the car to warm up I can shut the engine off and restart it. Then the battery light and park brake light stay on for an extended amount of time but I then have an excelerator and the ABS light does not come on. The Xtrail seems to run normal after this but I may loose the excelerator when driving down the road which is kind of unnerving. I would then have to stop and restart the car. Thats why I was thinking it was the ECM.
