Question Dash warning light "O/D OFF"

Hi there,

I bought a second-hand Terrano II just yesterday - 2002 model. Unfortunately, an owners manual didn't come with it. I took it for a valet today, and since collecting it, there is an orange light on continuously on the dash board, lighting up the message "O/D OFF"

Can anyone tell me what this means & what action I need to take?

Regards,
David

Hi,
For normal driving you need to have the O/D (overdrive) on all the time.
If you have an automatic, there ia a button on the side of the gear stick. Push it in and the light will go off.
Don't ever do normal driving with the O/D off as this can damage the car and will eat fuel.
The overdrive is to increase the revs for heavy inclines etc.
You can download the Pathfinder owners manual on this site which is very similar to the Terrano and will give you all the info on the important stuff like your 4x4 control etc.
Hope this helps.

You should have a switch in the shift to turn ON/OFF the over drive system. You should keep it ON.

Hi Guys,

I am a bit confused with this comments. I have a 1996 automatic.

Can you confirm that you advices to have the light on all the time when the button is pushed in ?

I thought the fuel will be worst has the rev are higher when the light is on ?

Seb
