Default A Key

I am in San Diego,
I just got my 2007 Sentra and I tried to have a key made. I was told that the one key I have has a chip in it and they could not make one.
My problem is the following:
I like to go and ride the waves at the ocean with my boogie board.
I can't do that with a key which has a chip in it. I just want a key I can take with me into the ocean. Then I can rinse it off with fresh water and dry it and use it to get back into my car. Suggestions?

Yes, the key is water resistant.

You can have a generic key cut that will open the door. It wouldn't start the car but you could leave your other set in the car and lock it and then use the generic key to get in. Most hardware stores can cut those, just tell them that it is a DA34 key blank.
