Default 2001 1.8 starts run for 3 sec and then dies

hey there i have a 2001 sentra with about 160k on it. the fuel pump was thought to be the problem as we did not hear the normal sounds from it and it also seemed like a fuel problem.

well it seems that was not the issue.

the car turns over fine and starts right away but less than 3-4 sec after it has started it shuts down, trying to give it gas only speeds up the stalling. im wanting to say fuel pressure regulator but want to know if there is a way to test or if there is somthign else i should look for.

i was also told there are some recalls but that this car was not one of the ones on the list in the vins. again thanks.

Have you tested the fuel system with a pressure gauge? and If there is no fuel pressure, have you check if there power to the fuel pump?

It is possible the the problem is the NVIS (NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM — NATS),if the key is to program correctly or there is a problem with the system, it will cut the power to the fuel pump.

yes the fuel pump is pumping away, and the pressure is around 60psi.

Too high but I guess is OK. (See Diagram 1)

Now you should check for power to the injectors. Using a voltmeter check for battery voltage at the black/red wire of the injectors (See Diagram 2) and if you can access to an oscilloscope check the signal at the other wire (See Diagram 3)
