Timing Chain Question
When replacing timing chain with the cylinder head and camshafts off, how can you be sure the chain does not slip off the crankshaft pulley position after replacing the front housing before putting back the cylinder head and camshafts? Does anyone know if there is enough clearance between the chain and the front engine housing which might permit the chain to slip off the sprocket?

On the vast majority of engines you put the heads and cams (and by extension the chains) back in place before you do the front cover. Front cover needs to be off to double check the crank has not moved in reference to cams anyway.
