Default 98 nission sentry se 2.0 hesitation

I been trying to trouble shoot hesitation and a P0301 #1 cylinder misfire code which might be part of the same problem. Replaced plugs and wires, fuel filter, knock sensor, distributor cap and rotor. Was going to test the two and mad sensor. Any other ideas to look at.

Fuel injector and circuit, compression test, possible intake gasket leak or head gasket leak.

The adjustment helped a little I think. Still need to due another test on it with a some help. P0301 code came back on. How do you test the maf sensor.

That's not how you adjust the TPS on this model. You need to get a copy of Nissan technical service bulletin #NTB99-053b; you might even be able to find it in our "knowledge base." Adjustment is performed using feeler gauges and an ohmmeter and after the TPS is adjusted to spec, the Closed Throttle Switch setting needs to be re-learned, which is also described in the TSB. If you can't find the TSB, send me an E-mail at [email protected] and put "RE: Nissan TPS adjustment TSB" in the subject line. I have a copy of it that I can send to you.
I've never seen a faulty MAF sensor cause a specific cylinder misfire. It might cause misfire codes at all cylinders, but that's usually rare, as well. Faulty MAF sensors typically will trigger MAF sensor codes (P0100), system lean codes (P0171/P0174) or oxygen sensor codes. If you want to test the MAF sensor, that information is located in the factory service manual for your vehicle in the "Engine Control" chapter, starting on page EC-112. You can download that chapter from the "knowledge base" at this site:

When testing compression, it's not only important to check the readings are consistent among the individual cylinders and withing the specified percentage, but also that the PSI readings of those cylinders are within the PSI specs for that engine. In other words, making sure that engine compression overall is not too low nor too high.
