Default Sentra acceleration issue

I have a 2001 Sentra GXE 1.8L that the alternator went out on, so I replaced it. As soon as I started the car it had no power and wouldn't rev past 3500 rpm. I checked everything was reconnected properly. It started to improve and will drive at part throttle fine, but if you try to use anything more than half throttle the car stumbles, and seems to cut out. I tried reinstalling the old alternator and same results, At first there was no CES but the light came on and my Innova scanner fails to connect with the computer. I don't know if these are related,

Replacing a Sentra alternator involves removing a few components. So back track to be sure every component removed was re-connected property. Sounds to me the misfire is caused by intake air or vacuum leak.
Also did you disconnect the battery negative cable when working on your alternator. Check the data link connector fuse.

Actually, it's simpler than most describe, just disconnect the o2 sensors, remove the heat shield and the alternator comes right out the rop.. so I did check the o2 sensor plugs, twice..
