2003 Sentra GXE 1.8 Fuel Regulator Problem
I recently went to the dealership to have a trans flush done and they noticed I had hard starts. After sitting for a short time it took several seconds of cranking to get the engine running. They said it was probably the fuel pressure regulator in the tank. So I went to the local parts store to order a new one for $56, instead of the $465 from the dealership! The part arrived and I opened up the tank, removing the pump assembly and low and behold what did I find? Nothing that looks what I bought! After researching a bit more I found that there is indeed a regulator in the tank. It is part of the pump assembly. Now I know why the huge cost difference. Is it possible to purchase the regulator for the pump and rebuild it myself or do I have to buy a whole new assembly?

It's possible that the problem is not the fuel pressure regulator it self, but just the seals. There is a bulletin for that problem. The bulletin has the instructions and the part numbers. If replacing the seal won't fix the problem, the you may have to replace the fuel pump assembly.
You can dowloand the bulletin from here: http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/Knowl...44&linkid=1264
