Clunking sound from front suspension / strut.
I just changed my front struts and went on a road test. There is clucking sound when i run over a bump on the road. Potholes and speed bumps are even worse Does any body know what could cause this.
Could this be from the struct mount? HELP. It's on 07 nissan sentra SER Spec V |

@ G47: I found the top bolts a bit loose and tightened them up. All other bolts were dead tight. However the noise is still there.

I finally found out the problem. The central top bolt that holds the strut was not tightened.
I tightened it up and the clunking sound was gone. Thanks guys. |

Struts-Clunking Noise 2012 Sentra
Dealership drove my 2012 Sentra (less than 8K miles) and was able to validate the clunking noise when backing, breaking, turning and on bumpy roads. Dealership determined it was "normal due to design of front suspension strut". Requested a second opinion from a local repair shop, and conclusion was "upper strut mount bearing bad, causing coil spring to pop". Returned to dealership with independent evaluation in hand, and dealer "removed and replaced both front strut bearings" under warranty. Noise is resolved.

upper strut mount bearings
I just read your post on the upper strut mount bearings, mine is doing the same thing after replacing the front struts, I'm going to replace those bearing, am betting that's the culprit, thanks for posting this.
