06 Sentra brake light intermittent problem - Connector replacement?
I'm having an intermittent problem with my brake light. I have tried replacing the bulb.
I've narrowed it down to a loose wire in the bulb connector, but I'm a little lost as to what to do now. With the pedal depressed, I can eventually find a way when I hold the center wires to the side that causes the bulb to go out. I'm wondering if it's just a bad solder and the heat from the bulb causes it to go out the hotter it gets, because I'm thinking this would cause flickering otherwise, and not whole durations of the light being out enough for people whoa re following me to notice. Not only can't I find the connector part number online anywhere, but I'm wondering how to disassemble that part. I can see that each metal connector is soldered directly to each wire, but I can't see how to break apart the socket. I can't find any part numbers to successfully look around for info. The copper pins look to be in good shape and aren't corroded enough to suggest that might be the issue either. It seems in the connection itself right at the base, inside the connector where it's soldered. Many thanks in advance. Rob. Last edited by breaddrink; 07-08-2013 at 09:32 AM. |

Ugh, I think I figured it out.
The two bulbs I was testing seemed to have pitted and old connectors on the bulb itself. Because it was two of them I became fixated on it being a connective issue with the socket. Wiggling the wire must have pushed it to the exact spot the bulb was having problems connecting to. I replaced the bulb for a third one and couldn't get it to turn out. Hopefully this is all it was and it was a weird coincidence. Sorry for the spam post. Rob. Last edited by breaddrink; 07-08-2013 at 09:54 AM. |
