Question Drive Belts

Help! Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp!

Sounds like small birds, but only at idle. Step on the gas, and it disappears. Sounds like it is coming from tensioner pulley for A/C & alternator. No difference if A/C is on or off.

Does this mean faulty idler pulley, belt, or both?

Both belts look good, but the A/C one appears to be glazed on back side. The only thing that touches this side is the idler pulley.

may just need to be tightened up a bit. However, if the belts are old, you should replace them. idler is probably good. when you take off the belts, you will know.
