how to remove shift knob from 2012 nissan sentra sr?
I'm going to be installing a satellite radio unit to the car tomorrow morning, and figure if I can get to the radio I can see if there's an aux input behind it, and hide the wiring behind the dash. I've been looking online and it looks like I start by removing the shift knob and then removing pieces of the dash from there moving up to get access to the stereo, but the instructions for the 2011 were to push the collar around the shifter down, giving access to the spring lock on the shift knob. The collar on my shifter doesn't budge when I checked to see if it would move, and I'm not wanting to force it.
anyone know how this comes off or is it needed to come off to get access to the head unit? thanks! |

It comes off the same way as the 2011. You can leave it on and just move the shifter down to low, pop the panel up and slide it down. It will give you enough room to remove the heater controls.

Below the black part of the shift knob there should be a chrome piece. Grab it and push down. It should slide down exposing a metal clip. Remove the clip and the knob will slide up and off.
