Stalls when Turning and hard shifting issue.
I have a 2001 2.0 Sentra(Auto) with about 110k on the clock.
I've been having these 2 issues for a couple of months. Whenever I've been driving it for over 15 mins and try to park at low speeds my car stalls. I noticed that it only stalls when I turn my steering wheel, If it's warmed up I can literally stall it by turning the wheel to the right and it will stall on me. I've gone to a few mechanics but they weren't too sure if it was the PS pump. I've been doing some searching and people have mentioned the Power Steering Switch or IACV? My second issue is the hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear, sounds like a clunk so I had the tranny mount changed and still same issue. Sometimes the shift lags and takes a while to respond when driving. There is a loud buzzing noise(sounds electrical) coming from the transmission only when in Drive, I'm wondering if this could be the solenoid or resistor? The shop said I need a new tranny but would like another opinion before I do. |

I suggest starting by checking the transmission fluid level and condition. Replaced the fluid if neccessary or just top it off. Also, check the engine idle, in park it should be around 800 RPMs and in Drive at around 750 RPMs. If is below that then you should adjust the engine base idle. Ok I did the idle adjust when I got home from Work, idle at drive is around 750 rpm and park 800. The problem is still there, I had car turned on(While in Park) and started to turn the wheel and the idle started to drop and you can hear it start choking. Could it be the power steering switch? That buzzing sound I mentioned before is pretty loud, I can hear while I'm in the car with the windows down...could this be the transmission?
