02 1.8 Sentra OBD Code P0328 Knock Sensor Circuit
My car was not running at all; I just replaced ECU to get it running.(It runs Fine)
However; finally get a chance to read codes with a good ECM installed.....Old / bad ECM did not even link up to OBD II reader Im getting: 02 1.8 Sentra AT - OBD Code MOD $10 P0328 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit High Input (Bank1) Car seems to run perfectly... Is it the Knock sensor ????????? or something else???? Can I change this sensor underneath the car by removing OIL FILTER to get at it or Must I take off Intake manafold.. Clear codes see if it comes back right away. It could be possible that it detected engine noise on first start up takes couple seconds for oil to transfer through engine. Also do have a leaking exhaust?

Thanks For your quick reply
I did clear codes and It did come back right away...I can try it again.. I do not think I have a leaking exhaust ; at least i don't hear it .....Or smell it.. Is there any harm running car it with this code ; The Check engine light is not on.... Until I get it fixed....... Also if i have to replace knock sensor is it possible to do so underneath car..... I rather not take off the intake just to replace a one bolt part..... |

Yes you can drive the vehicle you will experience slight elevation in fuel consumption and a little less power. Yes youan replace this sensor from under the vehicle you do not have to remove anything. I do believe it is just above ot next to the oil filter.

Thank you
Im going to order one and Install it ;Testing the wires between it and the box wont be easy as it is in a very awkward location (probably working Blind)...Hope this does the trick (just changing the part)..Parts for this car are insanely expensive ..$200 for a Knock sensor and $500 for an ECM...Or at least the ones that break.... |

I had a knock sensor code on my '94 altima that ultimatley ended up being a bad injector. For $200 i would check the sensor out first. A repair manual will give you ohm or voltage readings for yours. Mine was a similar situation, i had to replace the ECM also. It ran good but would intermittently skip. Found the bad injector, replaced it and that cleared my knock sensor code. But mine is OBD1 so the codes are not as specific as yours are.

Thanks
I just got a Used sensor from the Bone yard for 40 bucks...Thank God And Yeah the new ones are 200 bucks ..They got ya coming and going... Thats what im thinking ; could be something else..However; Shop manual says that this code is the connection plug, wire or sensor..(Possibly ground ) My error says - sensor is sending the ECM a Higher voltage then normal... So; when I test the old sensor ;It is possible that the resistance is less then what it should be..hence letting higher voltage go to ECM..But...Just my best guess right now ; I will get on it when sensor arrives in the mail... I need to find out what that resistance is exactly....If anyone knows off the top of their head please post it... |

They say - No question is a stupid question with the exception this one....
How do I get the plug off the sensor I tried everything short of brute force.. Ive removed a bunch of plugs before from different things but this one its a real pain... |

I tried that ..It must be stuck....I will try some WD-40 spray and let it soak
I the green tab also slides forward; I tried that.... Maybe it shorted (damaged it) and welded itself to the metal plug connectors.... I will give it another try ; when I get the replacement part..In a few days |

Slide the green part all the way in, a click sound will let you know that is all the way in and that the connector is release and pull the connector. If you don't heard the click, slide in the green part as much as possible and then insert a screw driver between the connector and the sensor and gently pry the sensor out.

Thanks ...
I will try to listen for a click (next attempt) ; I didn't notice one before when I pushed the green slider all the way in..Probably will have to pry Sensor out ; I just want to be xtra-careful not to damage wires while doing this... |

Yeah; I did it today and it clicked and popped right out when I pried on it...
Then I found out the used Knock sensor form an ebay Bone yard didn't fit in harness socket.. So I will have to do it all over again and Im sure next time it will pop out easier as i cleaned it all ...I also cleared the codes and they came back as Knock sensor as posted... |

a lesson here- don't buy your auto parts on ebay! Rock Auto is a good place to go.
