Default shift lock sticks 2000 vin 2001 model

My shift lock sticks. Have replaced brake switch and selenoid because I could but it still hangs. Press the brake and usually works but 1 out of 10 times does not: the little rod is not pulled in the selenoid. Seems the plastic is rubbing the metal mounting bracket. Tried a little WD 40 and will try some dry silicone later. Anybody else have this problem and fix it?

Default

It happened a lot to me. I had to open up the little access hole that is just in front of the shifter and use a screw driver to manually release it. A real pain in the but. It magically went away on it's own, so don't know if I can help outside of recommending the work around.

It may be unrelated, but sometimes my car won't detect it's in park and therefore won't start. Do you have that problem as well?

Default Shift Lock Problem

Thanks. No, I do not have that problem. I have identified some wear on the metal bracket where the plastic "lock" thing slides back and forth with the selenoid and have sprayed some teflon-silicon spray by DuPont and it seems to be helping.
