Unhappy 1999 Nissan Sentra Fan issue

All,

My radiator fan and adjacent condenser fan are not blowing. In stop-and-go traffic the engine heats up and the A/C blows warm until I can go highway speeds. Initially I was thinking a bad Coolant Temp Sensor. However, this would not take into consideration that the A/C condenser fan also. I am thinking that this may be an issue with a bad relay as this seems to be the common point between the two.

Can someone verify my line of logic? I am thinking that both of these fans are connected electrically through the relay.

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment!

Dave

You are correct, and you should start by checking the fuses and the if fuses are OK replaced the relays. I have attached the wire diagram and relays locations.

Default 1999 Sentra fan issue

I have the same issue with my 99 Sentra. Do I check the "Rad1" relay switch? And how do I check it?

Just as a side note, I would make sure that the radiator fan spins freely when the car is off. I had one lock up and stop spinning.
