Sentra SE-R wheel hub and bearing problem
I have a 2004 sentra se-r 2.5l and heard a loud noise coming from the front driver side wheel. I took it to a service station and they told me it was a bad wheel bearing which is what I expected although I'm not very knowledgeable about car repairs. They told me I would need to replace the wheel hub not just the wheel bearing. I figured to save money I would shop for the part myself but when shopping I realized nobody sells a front wheel hub for my car, only wheel bearings or rear wheel hubs. Does anyone know why this is? Was I given misinformation by the service station? I'm not sure if all I need to do is buy a bearing or a hub assembly. Can anyone shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

I'm not sure why the recommend replacing both. Usually you only replaced the bearing, but it is possible that the hub is damage as well. You can ask them why they recommend replacing the hub.
BTW you can get the hub by it self, I just check with one of my vendors and they do sell it.

thanks for the reply. from what the shop told me, just the bearing was damaged and needed to be replaced but on these model cars, you can't just replace the bearing, you have to replace the whole hub which doesn't make sense to me. i could buy a bearing for $30 and have someone put it in for cheap. but if i have to buy a hub for about $80-100, then the job starts getting really expensive. i just needed clarification on how this repair needed to be performed on these model of sentras. it's a 04 sentra se-r with a 2.5 l.
