03 Sentra 1.8 code p0011
What I was wondering is, would the misplacement of the gasket found underneath the valve cover cause these symptoms? Above this gasket is the Timing Control Solenoid that screws into the valve cover. If not any other ideas.
Thanks guys Last edited by conftim; 03-07-2009 at 10:56 AM. Reason: re wording |

p0011 on a 03 1.8 sentra
I think I screwed up my last thread I am going to try and do it right this time. Would the misplacement or the wrong gasket found underneath the valve cover cause these symptoms? Above this gasket is the Timing Control Solenoid that screws into the valve cover. If not any other ideas.

It is possible, but usually that is not the problem. Most likely is the solenoid it self, but you may want trying changing the oil first. Sometimes debri on the oil can trigger the code too.

I didn't mean the actual valve cover gasket. I meant the gasket that seperates the valve cover from the oil valley. The oil valley seems to be where the timing solenoid reads the oil presssure from to adjust the timing. The gasket that is on there now seems to be the wrong one. It is blocking some of the ports and covering some of the passages. The one I picked up from the dealership seems to be totaly different. Also am i correct to assume that i need to disconnect the battery for 24 hours to clear everything in the computer and then run the idle relearn process?

If the valve cover was removed there should be a gasket there with a screen. if this gasket was not put back in place it would set this code. However if the swirl valve is screwed into the cylinder head most likely the ball valve and tip was probably damaged. Also check oil level if the oil level is low then this would also set the code.

If the gasket was wrong then the gasket is most likely the problem. |
