I'd at least run regular oil until the motor breaks in 15-20k

One has to wonder why many high end cars come with synthetic in the crank case from the factory. I guess they never break in.

Most new cars are mfg. to such higher specs that "break-in" is just a matter of the rings to properly seal. There are onlt a very few that come from the mfg's with full syn in the crank case. One that comes to mind is the Chevy ZR Vet.

Many high end cars go through a break in before they leave the factory. The Nissan GTR comes from the factory with synthetic. The engine and transmission go through a break in on the dynomometer before they are even installed in the vehicle.
The 2009 Maxima and the Altima hybrid also come with synthetics installed at the factory.
It also looks like the new 370Z is coming with synthetic.
