Default AWD overheat warning

The same problem with my 2017 Rogue. drove down the Hurontario Street in snow condition.
AWD in a slippery area turn on automatically and after e few seconds the over heat warning for AWD-stop the car. Slow down and the warning turned off. Got any Ideas why???
