I agree it is so subtle you can hardly feel it working. I think driverless cars are farther off than everybody thinks.

I have a 2016 Outback. When you start to cross the line it steers you right back to the middle. After three times the warning comes up and tells you to keep your hand on the wheel.

There is no PREVENTION in their feature. It should just say Warning.

It think that is why they came out with the Pilot Assist in 2018. It actually works like they say the Prevention is suppose to work.

You should not have to press the button. The button is for cancelling the assist. It should be on by default as long as you have the box checked in the display.

Default LDP

There is only a warning check box. There is no assist check box.

Nope, LDP needs to be turned on each time.

Page 2-47 owners manual.

Thewarningsystemsswitchisusedtotemporarily turn on and off the Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system that is activated using the settings menu of the vehicle information display. The LDP system must be turned on with the warning systems switch every time the ignition is placed in the ON position. When the warning systems switch is turned off, theindicator 1 ontheswitchisoff.Theindicator will also be off if the LDP system is deactivated using the vehicle information display.

I leave mine off it is of very limited value and likely causes undo wear on the brake pads. Seemed like a good idea but is just a step to the pilot in the 2018;s.
