Default Airbag Light Flashing - B1049, B1054

I just bought 2006 Quest and airbag light is flashing. After researching the Internet and watching videos on Youtube, I tried to reset the light and it didn't work (Tried about 10 times now).

After scanning, I got 2 codes; B1049 and B1054. After learning possible causes for these codes, I am trying to do some things that I can do before I move on to the expensive fix. I want to look for poor electrical connections and open airbag harness but I don't know where the connections are or where to look for. I looked under the seat and I did not find any.

According to previous owner, the van was not involved in any accident/crash. He had Sirex radio (sp???) installed and connecting 'jacks' are on dashboard. The owner could't tell me when the light started blinking. The van has about 120K miles on it. FYI, the horn, cruise control, factory radio and cigarette lighter work.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Both of those codes are for the driver's air bag module (open circuit). This is the actual air bag part that is mounted to the steering wheel. The open could be inside the air bag, in the spiral cable (clockspring), the yellow air bag harness or the air bag control unit, itself. Nissan SRS diagnostics are very basic; there's no resistance or continuity checks in their procedures, mostly for liability and safety reasons. They are generally visual inspections followed by replacing parts, one at a time, until the problem is fixed. Yes, that can get very expensive! However, it is what it is!
The 2006 Quest factory service manual is really what you need to tackle this problem, specifically, the SRS chapter. Fortunately, that chapter is available for free download in the "knowledge base" at this site:

http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/Knowledgebase/links/162/

Page "SRS-23" has the code and diagnostic code and repair chart that you will want to look at. Remember: working on airbag and restraint systems can be dangerous if you are not careful or know what you are doing! Read the precautions at the beginning of the SRS chapter before working on these systems. Many times, especially when dealing with connectors or removing/installing parts, the battery cable will need to be disconnected for at least 10 minutes before it is safe to work on the vehicle. If you need to remove the air bag module bolts, you will need a tamper-proof torx socket, size "T50X."

Sorry for the delayed response.

I had to replace Clock Spring on the steering wheel underneath the airbag.

Allo Hbag179
It seems to be the Clock Spring on the steering wheel underneath the airbag even if your horn and cruise control works. video YouTube
