Default 1995 Quest dropping resistor part

I am trying to find a transmission dropping resistor for my 1995 Quest. The part number is 31037-0b000. I can't get if from the dealer or any online store so far. They all say that the part is discontinued even when they list it on their site as available. When I call to double-check before ordering they say that they no longer have the item. It is hard to believe that I can't find the part anywhere--even if it is obsolete it seems like there would still be inventory somewhere but days of trying I still can't find it. There are some site in eastern Europe that list the part but I am leery of using them since I can't even contact them. Does anyone know where I can get this part or alternatively is it possible to take the part out and put a new resistor from an electronic store into the part? If so, does anyone know what ohm resistor to use. The problem that I am trying to solve is an extremely hard shift from 1st to 2nd. This is the only problem that I am having with the van and otherwise it runs great. It is now shifting so hard it broke the motor mount. I believe that the problem is caused by the shift pressure being way to high which points back to the dropping resistor. I am going through a process of elimination so I want to replace the resistor to ensure that part of the system is working correctly.

I believe it's 12 Ohms. Why not just get one from a junk yard? They don't go bad all that often. There's got to be an old Quest or Villager sitting in a junk yard, somewhere!
