Default 2004 quest vibration during acceleration

205,000 miles
2004 quest sl

Noticed tonight I'm getting a strange shake/vibration I've never felt before. This shake isn't the typical unbalanced wheel shake.
Instead of an up & down rumble, it's more like a side-to-side shaking but only when I'm pressing the gas, going 50+ mph
I'm at a loss...any ideas?

I wonder if you have something going on in the suspension (tie rod, control arm, wheel bearing etc.). Or a bad motor mount? Either way I would have someone look at it sooner rather than later.

Any chance this is my transmission going out? Not that I'm against paying someone to look at it, just don't want to waste money as if it's a tranny issue, I'll just scrap it (trade it in)

will do -

question: should a bad motor mount vibrate at all speeds, and not just 50+ mph?

Not necessarily. I just replaced a motor mount on my Camry when I noticed some of the shifting was "not as smooth" as I remembered. First, i did a drain and fill for transmission fluid and didn't notice a change ( I had done one about 35k miles earlier). Then I read about the dogbone motor mount going bad in older Camrys. It was a $40 part and 10 minute installation. It made a difference.

Unfortunately, I don't know where the motor mounts are in the Quest. I would check the "Knowledgebase" tab to see if there is information on the motor mounts.

Update:

After inspection, the tech recommended all 4 motor mounts be replaced as well as much play in the RF axle and lower control arm needing replacement.

I checked my service records and low & behold, the RF axle was replaced less than 10,000 miles ago....good ole' refurbs, gotta love em

I'm still in correspondence with my local parts store (national chain) but did replace the axle & lower control arm.
The vibration is gone now, but the motor does clunk when putting it into drive (motor mounts)...maybe some other day.

Thanks for the tips!
