Until a Specialist replies...The first thing you should do is check all your fuses. I pulled this from your Section DI - DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM.

Hope this helps...

checked both fuses and still the same thing. any other ideas?

sonar

Hi

I had the same problem, it turned out that the beeper horn was the problem, in the dash.

davebos5 01-15-2008 08:42 PM

I have the same problem. Does anyone no how to fix the beeper horn or how much they charge to fix it?

davebos5 01-15-2008 08:44 PM

Come to think of it, when I first started having this problem I remember the beeper would work sometimes but it sounded like something sounds when it needs a new battery. Kind of sickly. Any ideas. Thanks.

Do a diagnostic test.

The reason the light shows off all the time is probably because the system is seeing a fault. You can enter self diagnostics on the system with the sonar switch on the left. Key on, in park, engine off, try this.
1. wait about three seconds after turning key on, indicator should go off, and press the sonar button 10 times within 5 seconds.
2. The buzzer should sound once.
3. press button again
4. the indicator should flash and hear a tone for each code stored(count them)
5. press button again, and it should start hearing two different tones for each code with a four second interval between each display of the code. I will repeat each code 5 times. If you let it run through all five it will exit self diagnostics.
6. it will be a series of high and low tones such as one low and two high meaning 12 and so on. it may be high first, can't remember. It may be monotone, with a 1 second space between digits.
7. after you have heard the code a couple of times to be sure you have it press the button again to go on to the next, and so on, till you have read all the codes.
8.when you have read all the codes and there is no more beeping, hold the button down for three to five seconds, to put it into idle mode.
9.wait about two seconds and hold the button again down for three to five seconds again, this will erase the memory from the control unit.
10.turn key off, wait ten seconds, turn key on again and put it into reverse, and see if the light comes on.

When the light comes back on, repeat the previous steps. It has been my experience that when a fault occurs, it throws a lot of false codes, thats why I erase them first and then check again, this should give you your true faults.
If you can't get a tone, you may have a bad speaker. That can cause a problem too.

codes:
11 outer left
12 inner left
13 inner right
14 outer right
21 sonar buzzer problem
22 sonar indicator problem
23 switch problem
24 control unit problem

Super helpful Titan. I'm having same problem on 04 quest. Light always on. Will run self check tomorrow. I'm an experienced elecrical engineer..but have no idea where items are on the Quest (SE) Do you happen to know where the control unit is on the Quest? I saw the Armada location drawing. Also how can I best support this great community site?

Location of Sonar control unit on 04 Quest

2004 Quest Sonar answers and new question.

Thanks to the helpful prior posts in this thread an the slightly hazy but accurate enough desription on how to entere diagnostic mode I've been able fire up the diagnostics for the backup sonar and see what's wrong.

The Sonar info provided was for an Armada. The error earlier matches what I was getting, but entering diagnostics was a little different.

Also my "off" light came on immediately after I powered on the key...so I couldn't use the procedure he offered exactly becuase the light never went "off".

Good news though Here's what worked.

1.) Turn the key to "on"
2.) immediately (within a second) push the on off exactly 25 times.
The light will then go out briefly and then will blink once for each entry in the error log.

3.) Push the button once, and the light will then begin to flash the oldest logged error code in first digit - last digit format. (Titan is right ... You must push the button before the light repeats th 5 times or it will exit diagnostic mode). Titan said the beeper will beep along with the light but you can't count on that ... in my case the error code told me the buzzer was bad ... hence it couldn't buzz.

4.) If you wish you can clear the error log by following The previou info on that. It makes sense to do this then repeat 1 - 4 because there may be old entries that don't apply anymore in there. Clening them out will leave you with only the real porblem.

Hope it helps for you quest owners out there.

oops ... I should have given baseballfanz credit for all the info. Thanks Baseballfanz.

nissan master tech 09-16-2008 08:43 PM

if it won't go into diagnostic mode...then you will have to replace the back up sensor speaker assembly which is in the top of the dash...the titan and quest seem to have the same problem with the sonar speakers...

I tried the porcess to reset the backing sonar. in the process the van wont start now. Any suggestions
