2004 Quest - changing spark plugs

Hello~
I have 04 Quest SL and I am about to change spark plugs.
I read service manuals and it says I have to drain engine coolant before
I change sparks plugs.
I know I am going to sound stupid but is that step really necessary?
Is there a way to change plugs without draining engine coolant?

Thanks

that is just there because on that model you have to move the plenum out of the way. I've never drained the coolant, but then again never looked in the service man. to see procedure. an 04 and already needing to put plugs in that bad boy, man you've been driving.
