06 maxima with no cluster

i took out a bad cluster from my maxima, was able to drive for 1 day now the trans won't shift correctly, starts in 4th gear any ideas?? there currently is no cluster in the car, is this causing the trans problem?

More than likely, "yes." The integrated meter assembly is connected to the "ECM bone." The "ECM bone" is connected to the "TCM bone." The "TCM bone" is connected to the "IPDM/ER bone." And so on.. LOL. Most vehicles today, like your Maxima, employ CAN (Controlled Area Networking) communication which lets all of the different control units communicate with each other. With the integrated meter assembly (a.k.a. "cluster") missing out of the loop, it creates a CAN communication issue and is likely putting your trans into a "fail safe" mode. Of course, you can check this by re-installing the cluster to see if it fixes the issue.
