01 Frontier 3.3 liter: Timing belt age?

Have 35,000 miles. Recent Nissan service advised changing belt, water pump, etc. despite only 35k miles (and quoted $1150! w/ water pump). Said age deteriorates belt. This seems a little conservative to me. I cannot find any "official" recommendations about this maintenance based on age rather than mileage. Can I wait a little longer? How much longer? As one can see from the mileage I do not use this truck every day nor for long trips.

TIA

The timing belt is 7 years or 105K miles. I do agree with the service advisor. Unfortunately it is recommended to replaced the timing belt around that time, but since your Frontier has low mileage you may push it a little bit longer.

Here is the maintenance schedule for your Frontier: Nissan Maintenance Schedules

You need to know if this is an 'Interference' engine.

If the timing belt fails on a regular engine, you break down. Timing belt failure in an Interference engine means you'll need butter, cause if the belt fails, the valves are free to strike pistons, piston walls, transmission, air freshener, etc., and the engine will be

I would replace the belt and water pump and have that peace of mind that all is well.

Agreed, a peace of mind is better than a piece of belt.

I just change the timing belt , water pump all the belts crank seal and camshaft seal on a 2002 frontier v6 have 160 000 km , timing belt looked fine I could have waited a few more years by better safe than sorry, did the job myself just watched a could of you tube video,my advice if your gonna do it yourself is make shure you have a harmonic balancer puller and i used the starter to remove the nut with a breaker bar .
