I just purchased a 1997 Pathfinder SE and it has the second shifter for 2wd and 4wd. When in normal conditions should there be a green light on the dash showing the trans? Just wondering. 1st 4wd vechile.Probably have more questions. Thanks Ash

I am not 100% sure what you are asking, but here is what I inferred...when you are in 2hi, the light will be off...4hi the light with the 4 wheels linked by the tcase should be on...neutral the light should go off again, and 2hi the 4 wheel light should come on again...thats the way my 97 functions...

i don't think any lights should be on while in 2hi except the "D" (drive). or none if you have a 5 speed.

when green light shows on the dash, which means you are using 4 wheels drive.

on infinity qx4, there is a sign for driving mode. it has green sign for rear wheels. on pathfinder, indicator shows 4wd is engaged only.
