Exclamation Battery/alternator

ive recently bought a brand new 2007 pathfinder in Maryland, sent it to my country(Angola,West Africa).
I drove it from Maryland to New Jersey, feeling a bad smell inside, thinkin that was coming from lakes across hiways.
Once in my country i realize that bad/acid smell cames from under hood, battery leaking i think.Ive checked liquid level is ok.
On battery charger meter is somewhere on the + i signal after rev engine below 2000 rpm.
I also want to know how to toggle from miles to km in the trip computer
Can someone help me

Best Regards

Pull out your Owner's Manual and turn to: Instruments and controls 2-5

When the ignition switch is turned to ON, modes of the trip computer can be selected by pushing the trip computer change button. The following modes can be selected: Distance to empty (dte—mile or km)
