If your ever near Boise Idaho let me know and I'll buy you a beer!
One more Q, is there a easy way to access the input shaft sensor harness above the transmission? I need to remove the crimps and use shrink wrap but I don't want to lower the trans to reach it? Maybe from the wheel well? Thank you very much again!!! |

No easy way that I know of. Solder and shrink wrap is the best way to go for electrical connections. I don't bother with crimp connections unless it's an emergency.

Hello, question on knock sensor relocation

I relocated the knock sensor without splicing the original wires . What I did was follow the wire to the original knock sensor and pull it out giving me the yellow already grounded wire and took the yellow wire of the harness spliced it and connected it to the yellow original wire that should already be grounded out. It worked fine but now I have the check engine light on again and reads the knock sensor and a misfire on cylinder two. One is triggering the other but need to know if how I came to relocate the wire is wrong?

Without seeing what you actually did, it's hard to say where you gone wrong. One thing, there are two wires in the knock sensor circuit...sort of. Neither one of them is yellow. There is a white wire that is the signal wire that runs from the ECM to the knock sensor and the sensor is grounded by its attachment to the block and the bolt securing it to the block. The other wire in the circuit is a black wire w/ yellow stripe which attaches to the braided shielding around the knock sensor wire (which helps prevent RF interference) and that wire goes to chassis ground point, F11. Maybe the white wire is faded so that it looks like it's yellow?... I don't know. But, I would recheck what you did in the relocation of the knock sensor, first. If that's okay, then you will have to investigate the misfire as that is likely triggering the P0325 code. There is a thread on doing the knock sensor relocation at ClubFrontier. Most use a knock sensor and subharness from a 1995 Maxima:

I have relocated my KS and still getting a po328 and po455 codes.
I didn't tape the wires , just twisted them in case this happend. Thoughts Thanks |

P0455 is an evaporative emission system gross leak. Common causes for this can include a bad vent control valve and/or vapor canister, bad gas cap or split/leaking/disconnected hose within the evap system or a leak at the fuel tank sending unit seal. I would start by checking the canister's vent control valve, assuming you don't have the equipment to test the system properly (smoke machine and scan tool).

I've read the post on this relocation of the knock sensor . I want to make sure the part number is correct for the maxima harness . I plan on either doing some crimps or solder and shrink tube ? . I did find a OEM sensor on eBay under $15.00 and the harness for $12.00 on eBay . I just want to be sure of the part number for the harness ?
