07 Pathfinder P0021 intermittent code
I replaced the secondary timing chain tensioners on my '07 Pathfinder with new chains and tensioners according to the TSB. Everything runs fine and smooth -- took it on a long trip and after 100 miles of freeway driving a P0021 code set. The engine runs perfectly fine and smooth - so it doesn't go in limp home mode. It just sets the Service Engine light which has become annoying. Reset the code and once again after 160 or so miles the code resets. There's only a P0021 code set, no other codes are set and the engine continues to run smooth and fine. I was thinking maybe the main chain was off by a tooth but for this to show after 100 miles of high speed driving and the engine running perfectly fine with good power and gas mileage makes me reluctant to dive back in a second time. Could be maybe the sprockets were more worn out than I thought and the timing is off by a hair too advanced on bank 2? Anyone else come across something similar? If the engine wasn't running so smoothly I would suspect timing was off by a tooth too advanced. Curious if anyone else has come across something similar.
