Default 1998 Nissan Pathfinder SE rear pinion gear bad won't roll backwards?

Good afternoon all,

I have a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder SE 191,000 miles and the rear pinion gear is bad. I had given the 4x4 to my great niece as her first car a few years ago. Recently it was offered back and I was told the transmission needed to be replaced. After my guy checked it out, I was told the transmission and engine are in good shape and the problem is the rear pinion gear and the brake lines are rusted.

In an effort to bring it bad, I have been researching the best route to take? I've considered getting a rear end from the junkyard? Which other years of pathfinders will therear end being exchangeable? Is that the smartest route, or should I have the differential or gear replaced?

The items need replacing tthus far includer:
1. Rear pinion gear/ rear end.
2. Brake lines all around.
3. A couple of marker lights.
4. AC recharged.
5. Radio replaced.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your time and any and all assistance is appreciated.

Happy Fourth Everyone,

Ron
