2002 Pathfinder Steering Rack issue.
My 2002 model pathfinder steering rack is leaking, making my steering wheel to be very strong in turning it.
A mechanic once told me that a 1999 Toyota 4Runner Steering Rack would match it perfectly. Please any idea about such matchable parts? Your advice will be welcomed. |

I never heard or use any 1999 Toyota 4Runner parts on a Pathfinder, besides the Toyota parts are probably more expensive than the Nissan parts.

They don't match. Toe rod ends are different. The 4Runner rack has a round extension with a bushing that a mount bolt goes through, whereas the Pathfinder rack has the mount bushing wrap around the rack, which fits into a bracket. Rockauto has a Cardone reman. rack & pinion for $265...not including the core and shipping charges. If you're looking for a used rack, 2001-2004 Pathfinders and 2001-2003 Infiniti QX4's are the same.

So it can not be amended, either removing some parts and replacing it with a Nissan parts?

I don't see happening. Not, at least, from the pictures of the two different rack & pinions that I looked at. I guess where there's a will there's always a way, but to what expense?
