2001 Pathfinder Overheating
I have a 2001 Pathfinder that is overheating. I have replaced the radiator, radiator cap, and thermostat. I have made sure that all air is out of the system by pulling a vacuum. Vehicle is still overheating. Initially blowing warm air and as it heats up, blows cold air.
Question, would replacing the water control valve (2nd thermostat) possibly remedy my overheating issue? Just about out of options...... |

Make 100% sure the fans are on when it is overheating..........most have at least two speeds, need to be on high too.
Water pump could be bad........... |

I always replace both thermostats as a set. If it overheats while driving on a highway or freeway, that's usually indicative that it is not a cooling fan (or fans) issue as the air being forced through the cores at those speeds are enough to provide sufficient airflow through the radiator and condenser cores. I have doubts about it being a water pump issue, as they rarely fail on VQ engines and when they do, it's usually not an overheating issue that it creates because of an impeller issue, but a coolant leak issue or noise issue due to a failed bearing. The possibility exists that there is a bad head gasket when all other possibilities have been addressed.
