Default 2015 pathfinder engine whine

at cold start ups the engine revs up to 1800 rpm and makes a loud whining noise, doesn't go away gets quieter after engine is at temp but still there

I doubt this is the noise that you're describing, but just FYI, there is a Nissan service bulletin regarding power steering noise (high-pitched squeal) for your year Pathfinder, which you can download here:

took it to the dealer and needs a transmission, apparently they dealer has replaced several of the cvt from this model year

They've replaced a lot of CVT transmissions on a lot of Nissan models over a number of years. They should have stuck with conventional transmissions and they would have saved themselves a lot of headaches and repair work!
