Default Problems with AC controls

My heater/AC has an issue. Fan only works in high speed and the AC does not work.

In the first three speeds the AC light, the Defrost light, and the Inside air light all turn on and off as they should but the fan does not blow any air at all. As soon as I turn the control the highest fan setting the lights turn off and the fan turns on. With the fan set to the highest speed it appears the heater works, but the AC does not, I do not even hear the AC kick in.

Any advice on where I should begin troubleshooting this?

Any of you had a similar issue and how did you fix it?

Thanks!
Spencer

I am glad to see that response. I ordered one last night. I will know in 48 hours if that solves it.

Will the blower resister cause the AC light to turn of when the fan turns on in max speed though? That is my only reason to question if the blower resistor if the root cause.

Thanks!
Spencer

It will cause the a/c light to go on and off. I have seen some where you can put the switch between two speeds and it will turn the a/c light back on. It is a pretty common problem on that set up.

That fixed it. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Hardest part was finding a 5.5 MM socket to take out the two screws.

I have replaced the blower motor twice so I am not suprised the resistor was bad.
