2006 Pathfinder: key can be removed from the ignition switch while running
my 2006 Pathfinder started to allow for the key removal from the ignition switch when running
at first it was kind of "not really holding it very tightly", now it is actually very easy to remove any hints to where to start looking for a failure? |

looks like I've finally found the answer on AT-228 page of the Nissan repair guide: Key Interlock Cable looks to be at fault and needs either adjustment or replacement

Ha !!! My 1970 VW has the same "talent".
One day in 1977, I arrived at the townhouse I rented with my brothers, and the girlfriend of one - with whom he had broken up the day before, and told her he never wanted to see her again - was waiting there when I arrived home from work. Really mad, I yanked the key out while the engine was running, and the engine stayed running, and have been able to do this ever since, so it's been like that for 40 years now !!! Gals were fascinated that I'd pull the keys out while driving, use a different key to unlock its glove box, exchange to a different cassette tape, all while continuing driving. |
