2005 Pathfinder PO420 Code!!!
Need help on this. Getting PO420 code and dealer says cat needs replacing. Had one side replaced about 13 months ago and now Dealer says its "probably" the other side, bank 1???? Wants $1100 to replace. Does anyone know of any tsb's for this on this year pathfinder? I have 98k miles and this is the second cat to go bad???

It is pretty common on these to have failures around 100,000 miles.
You can get them aftermarket cheaper. I haven't used one yet but they look like they would work . http://www.partstrain.com/store/?N=0...b4&id=bh276t5v

sometimes if your air/fuel mixture is not correct, it will cause you engine to run rich thus destroying the cats.. going up hill you will hear a slight gurgling from the engine ... or you can do a 0 to 60 mph test and your results will not match your models performance numbers... you will be off by 2 to 4 seconds.

New member, not sure how to post new subject but relates to this. Had p430/420. Replaced all 4 cats, good for two weeks. P420 came back. Checked for intake exhaust leaks all good. Change plugs, Nicley fowled. Code gone. Came back three weeks later. Other then o2 and mixture sensor not sure what to do. Dealer says that sensor have own codes and won't cause 420/430. ? Thought they did? Don't want to send $160 per sensor if fine. When replacing cats the where a bit white but looked ok.
