Crank but no start and no spark need help
Have an 2000 Pathfinder with 3.3L engine.
It cranks but no start because there is no spark coming out of the distributor. This design has an integrated coil and power transistor inside the distributor assembly. How can I confirm that the distributor assembly is at fault? Also, when I crank it there is no RPM at the dash. Is the crank and or the cam sensor signal required to get an output from the distributor to the spark plug? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

1. Check to make sure that the timing belt has not broken. I think you can pull the distributor cap and see if the rotor turns when you crank the engine.
2. My daughter has 1998 Pathfinder with 3.3L engine, it died 1.5 years ago, would crank but not start. Shop diagnosed that as bad coil inside the distributor; we bought a distributor on-line, I installed that and timed it, that solved that. A big bonus was that her Pathfinder had power after that repair that it never had in the first 2 years she'd owned it, and 2 shops could not figure out why. |
