Anything's possible, but without confirming either one is bad, one is only guessing, which can get expensive and not necessarily fix the problem. I doubt that a converter is causing a "spike." They will either become inefficient, which will have no affect on performance and tend to set a P0420 or P0430 code, or, they become restrictive, which would cause a loss of power. Best way to test for restriction is with an exhaust back-pressure tester.

I just started to get back to this PF after about a week of working on my Element.

I just started the engine and I am getting the P1165 SWL_CON_VC_SW/CIRC.

I just changed that part. Maybe I have it in backwards?

Or maybe the hoses are in the wrong place.

I just looked up what this code is and appearantly it is the vacuum part on the side driver fender.

I just erased the code and it hasnt come back, it may have been because I was spraying brake cleaner around rubber vacuum hoses.

It's not easy to erase the code but if you have locksmith around they can easily remove it.
