2001 Pathfinder Replacing ECM
I have a 2001 Pathfinder SE 3.5 that the ECM will need replaced. I have read up on different forums and am a little confused. I am being told that the Idle control valve and throttle position sensor need replaced before installing the ecm. Also someone mentioned something about the key?? Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to spend money and time on replacing only to miss an important step and screw it up.
Thanks! |

Why do you have to replace the ECM?
Sometimes when the Idle Control Valve (IACV AAC) or Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) fail, ti will damage the ECM, an thats why some people recommend replacing the AAC and/or TPS at the same times. If you are replacing the ECM for something else, then there is no need to replace the IACV or TPS at the same time. The keys need to be reprogram to new ECM.

Pathfinder
It keeps throwing up the P1320 code after replacing coils, camshaft sensor, and crankshaft sensor. The camshaft had it's own code showing and disappeared once replaced. Had someone put a monitor on it and said it was the computer that needed replaced.

You should get a second opinion, I have never replaced an ECM for that problem. Did you used factory ignition coils? Ignition coils is usually the problem for that code. I recommend have someone with an oscilloscope read the ignition coils signal.

I've seen bad ignition coil harness connectors cause those codes as well. Nissan won't sell you a repair pigtail, but I think you can get them at WiringSpecialties.com. Of course, you have to confirm that being the problem, of course.

if my new EMC came with new keys/chips and new ignition, do I still have to have it synced, or does it come synced?
