Well, if the fan is always "on," that alone could be the reason it takes a while to get up to temperature. You could have a stuck relay or a bad ECT sensor or an issue that is making the ECM run the fans. You could check for stored codes. If there are no codes, you would need to view the ECM datastream with a scantool to begin diagnosis. Check the wires to the ECT sensor, first, and look for possible damage (rodent damage, bare or shorted wiring, etc.).

Ok Thank you. Let me elaborate a liittle when ithe engine is cold the fan will come on and stay on and I will drive about 20mins stop and turn it off then it will be on for a minute then go off. it has to get up to temp until it will work. Also anytime I turn it on it will stay on for a minute after driving then go off. The guy at nissan said its because of the auto climate control system I have the navi/heater unit that came from the factory but that dosent make sense to me. Also could it be the fan clutch going bad? have a code for po430 for bad cat but thats been on for a while

If the climate control is turning the AC compressor "on," the electric fan will come on. Defrost mode will turn the AC "on." If the fan clutch, which is part of the mechanical fan and not the electric fan, is bad, one of two things would happen. If it fails to engage, you will see the engine temperature run hotter when idling and at stops, but will return to normal when driving at speed. The other way, the clutch will remain engaged at all times and you will hear the constant "roar" of the mechanical fan at all times. The P0430 is a catalyst efficiency code for the #2 engine bank, or "left" side from driver's perspective, and is usually due to a bad catalytic converter.
