97 Pathfinder clutch not disengaging...Please Help
I have a 97 Pathfinder and while driving the other day I went to shift down and I couldn't get it back into gear. Once I slowed down enough I was able to get it into second just to get home. Now it is impossible to get into gear. There was no noise or grinding when it first happened and the clutch pedal still feels the same with a good amount of resistance.
Even though it didn't seem to be a hydraulic issue I figured I would start with bleeding. Didn't really get any air bubbles and the reservoir is full. The clutch still will not disengage. So my next thought was replacing the slave and master cylinders. But not sure about that because there are no leaks that I can find anywhere. Can the cylinders go out in a way other than blowing a seal? The throw out bearing has been rattling for the last 90k miles! Wondering if it finally went out preventing the clutch arm/ fork from moving far enough to disengage the clutch? I would think if it finally went out or grenaded in there I would have heard some violent noises or at least some noise at all. But I didn't hear anything and didn't feel anything different in the clutch pedal. Anyways, anyone have any ideas? ...Oh and for the last year or so it has sometimes been difficult to get it in reverse and 1st gear due to the clutch not fully disengaging. Thanks in advanced for any help! Last edited by c-lo; 02-22-2012 at 08:41 AM. |
