2005 Pathfinder transmission flush DIY
Any insight how to flush the tranny. Just undo the drain plug let it drain and put in exact amount that came out through the dipstick? Any other recommendations or suggestions?

Apparently they dont make J matic fluid anymor...its Matic-S. I believe they can be mixed?
I will have to look in the book to see what the capacity is but i hear you can only get 4+ quarts out just by draining an filling? If it hold 12 14 16 quarts is it really worth it? |

atf drain and fill is a waste.... i did it at 64k and by 100k my atf fluid was cooking oil color... you whould do a poormans flush... no machine.. first you drain the atf then fill the amount that came out.... next remove the atf line that is attached to bottom of radiator..... do

I believe is worthed, that's what the factory recommends and that what I have been doing for a long time. What xterramexico recommends its also OK, by removing the cooler line you can get more out and definitely do not use a machine to flush the trans. |

I agree with NissanTech on staying away from power flush machines. Draining and refilling several times will get you you really, REALLY close to a "flush" with less worry about someone else working on you car with a machine that can damage it if not used correctly. I buy my stuff from Autozone and have a rewards card that gives me $20.00 back in mercahndise for every purchase over $20.00 a day. Found out about it when I was doing multiple flushes (FIVE) after having my ATF radiator cooler fail. |
