Default 2005 Pathfinder transmission flush DIY

Any insight how to flush the tranny. Just undo the drain plug let it drain and put in exact amount that came out through the dipstick? Any other recommendations or suggestions?

Yes, that is it. Just make sure you use the Nissan Matic J fluid.

Apparently they dont make J matic fluid anymor...its Matic-S. I believe they can be mixed?

I will have to look in the book to see what the capacity is but i hear you can only get 4+ quarts out just by draining an filling? If it hold 12 14 16 quarts is it really worth it?

You are correct, the Matic S is a substitution of Matic J and it can be mixed.

I think it takes 9-10 qt, and not 12 or 14.

I believe is worthed, that's what the factory recommends and that what I have been doing for a long time.

What xterramexico recommends its also OK, by removing the cooler line you can get more out and definitely do not use a machine to flush the trans.

You can also use Castrol Import Multivehicle ATF. It is quite a bit cheaper from the Nissan brand. I've been running it ever since I had my tranny cooler go out and have had no issues:Castrol USA - Import Multi–Vehicle

I agree with NissanTech on staying away from power flush machines. Draining and refilling several times will get you you really, REALLY close to a "flush" with less worry about someone else working on you car with a machine that can damage it if not used correctly.

I buy my stuff from Autozone and have a rewards card that gives me $20.00 back in mercahndise for every purchase over $20.00 a day. Found out about it when I was doing multiple flushes (FIVE) after having my ATF radiator cooler fail.
