Default Catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 2

Is this usually interpreted as needing to replace my Catalytic Converter?? Also, I noticed some odd smoking this morning from the exhaust but it went away after a few minutes after start-up.

Cars are the devil :(

EDIT: By the way this code is P0430 - I found a notice regarding reflashing the ECM. I'm going to take that approach first....it's cheaper then replacing 02 sensors and catalytic converter...

If you have a scan tool that will show the o2 sensor readings you can tell if the cat is bad by watching the readings. A reprogram will not fix a damaged cat.

I'm very skeptical that it's a damaged cat - it was replaced in April 2009 at 87k miles.

Are you sure they replaced that one? That vehicle has 2. The p0430 is for the left side.

U are correct, they replaced one but not the other....and they don't have records of which one they replaced.

Can anyone tell me which CAT belongs to the 0430 code? Driver side or passenger??
